Davenport, FL (June 15, 2012) - The Center for Women’s Health, Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center’s 31,000-square-foot expansion into the fifth floor, is ready for patients, and guests. On Saturday, June 23, from 9 a.m. – noon, the community is invited to visit the new Center, tour the floor, meet the providers and enjoy refreshments and door prizes at the official Open House. The hospital is located at 40100 Highway 27 in Haines City.
Visitors will see 10 spacious birthing suites, 20 post-partum beds, an expanded nursery and two dedicated operating rooms. The da Vinci surgical robot will be present, ready for “test drives” during the Open House. Visitors can try out the advanced technology using a simulation program.
Healthcare providers will be on hand to meet community members and Dr. Mark Alkass, OB/GYN specialist, will present the topic, “Robotic Surgery, Minimally Invasive Surgery: The Future is Here” at 11 a.m. This informative session will explain some of the advances and benefits of today’s minimally invasive gynecologic surgical methods.
In the expanded nursery, visitors will enjoy seeing the nature-scene mural covering the room’s walls. Large trees and woodland creatures bring added warmth to the nursery, which is being painted by 26-year-old Lake Wales artist Brittany Stanley. Ms. Stanley holds a graphic design degree and has donated her time to design and paint the artwork.
