Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center. Our volunteers serve throughout the hospital in many departments. Please note that our volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.

Following a personal interview and background check, every effort will be made to match your “special” skills, talents and abilities to hospital needs. We do not accept applications from those attempting to complete court ordered community service hours or school credits.

About Our Organization

The Auxiliary was granted its charter in 1966 and became a member in good standing of the West Central District of the Association of Florida Hospital Auxiliaries. Approximately 75 ladies began the tradition of service that continues today with a much larger membership that includes both men and women, mostly retired. Auxilians contribute over 3,000 hours a month for the comfort and well-being of the patients.

If you’ve been considering doing some volunteer service, we hope you’ll think of us. Our volunteers, also known as Auxilians, make a difference in people’s lives everyday by offering support and comfort to our patients and their families. Our Auxilians are recognized as individuals who provide information, assistance and guidance. Our growing membership of dedicated men and women volunteer thousands of hours of service each year to their community.

How Can You Help?

By giving as little as four hours a week of your time, you can become a member and you can gain the satisfaction of helping others in various areas including:

  • Admissions/Outpatient Desk
  • Radiology Attendant
  • Maternity Care (Mother/Baby)

Orientations/Training

New volunteers are required to attend an orientation consisting of one hour. This orientation covers mission, recognition, service openings, benefits, rules and regulations. Training sessions with an experienced volunteer or staff member in your assigned service area will be conducted on your first day of service.

Photo ID and Uniforms

All volunteers must wear a photo identification badge when they are at the hospital for any official purpose: i.e. service, meetings, etc. All volunteers must be in uniform according to dress code while performing service duties or representing the hospital. Uniform tops are sold in the Auxiliary Office for $13.00.

Auxiliary/Membership Dues

To join the Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, membership dues are $5.00 per year. As a member, you may also be elected to serve in a leadership role on the Auxiliary Board.

Your Benefits

As a member of the Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, you will receive many benefits including:

We greatly depend on our volunteers. The key questions to ask yourself are:

Again, we appreciate your interest in supporting the patients and staff of Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center. We look forward to meeting you personally.
