The Respiratory Services staff provides specialized care for the lungs. Our Respiratory Therapists consult with physicians and other health care staff to help develop, modify and implement individual patient care plans. They treat all types of patients with respiratory illness from premature infants to the elderly. They perform many routine respiratory therapy diagnostic procedures and treatments, such as pulmonary function tests, nebulizer treatments, oxygen therapy, analyzing arterial blood gases, managing mechanical ventilation, establishing and maintaining patient airways.

Outpatient Services

The PFT, EEG and arterial blood gases exams are available on an outpatient basis at Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center. For any outpatient exam, please register at the Outpatient Admitting desk at the South entrance of the building. You will be escorted to the Respiratory Services area for your exam.

Better Breathers Program

The Better Breathers Program offers information and support for individuals with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and is endorsed by the American Lung Association. The group meets from 1 to 3 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month. Pre-registration is required by calling 863-419-2247.
